what?

twext is a twin text format.. to help us learn languages.

language learners often use translations in "parallel text":

parallel text conveys the meaning and flavor of sentences, but does not compare how the ideas are put together, nor does it relate specific words and phrases; CHUNKS OF MEANING:

twext relates specific chunks of meaning. To look up a word or phrase, simply refocus on the smaller type below.

since twext doesn't follow the grammar rules of your native tongue, you get a feeling for how ideas happen in the new language.

as the twext machine grows, many languages can get twext.. it may grow easier for us to learn each other's language.

and if twext grows profitable, we can invest a growing share of our profits into literacy programs.. after all, growing literacy grows our market.

let's make it easier and more fun to learn more new language.. and let's get paid =) let's work together toward a world where everyone on earth can learn to read..

why?

chunk translation reading aids aren't news, and many teachers avoid them because the students tend to just read the translation, rather than learn the new language.

twext translations, however, are formatted so carefully, that it's a strain even to see the translation.. it ends up being easier just to learn the new language..

twexter software is making it easier to create twext translations, and can now enrich texts with sound, image, video and commments..

when used with lyrics to popular songs, twext translations transform vital cultural expressions into "comprehensible input" required by language learners.
