twext is chunk translation:
1. separate a text into chunks,
2. then translate each chunk.

how to define chunks? easy:
just add an extra space or two.

there's no problem
no hay problema
easy, right?
fácil ¿no?
when translating twext:

A) each chunk translation should convey the *intent*
of the text chunk, in context with surrounding text

B) the chunk translation can be weird (ungrammatical
or "poetic").. as long as it conveys the intent

so from spanish you could twext a few ways:

ONE CHUNK
me lo das
you give it to me
TWO CHUNKS
me lo das
to me you give it
THREE CHUNKS
me lo das
to me, it, you give

in each example the twext conveys the intent of the text..

  • the first conveys the meaning of the whole phrase
  • the second conveys some new structure in the new language
  • the third explicitly conveys the structure

in a few words:

  1. the twext should mean what the text says
  2. where possible, twext can convey how the text says it
so the translation can be wierd
or ungrammatical or poetic
as long as the translation means
what the text is saying
and can be figured out by the reader

if above example is in context with other spanish words, then the twext translation might change

me lo das, o te lo quito
give it to me or from you i take it away

so there's there's many ways to translate twext from text

you can type out twext in any text program,
keep it simple, no formatting necessary..

then put the twext input in http://xc.cx,
and you can share the twext
